Breeders are key to the dog-show circuit because pups from top-ranked show dogs fetch higher prices. The problem is that fewer people are willing to shell out the cash for prime-time purebreds.
In the not-so-distant past, Bridgefort said, there would be a waiting list to buy a Yorkshire terrier for $2,000.
“Now, it’s almost impossible to sell a dog,” she said.”
