Why Do Small Dogs Live Longer
Biologists at the University of Göttingen in Germany are hoping to answer this very question.
Researchers found that “Big dogs apparently die younger mainly because they age quickly…”
The Biologists discovered that larger breeds of dogs aged at much faster rates. The were able to determine that every 4.4 pounds of body mass equates to a loss of approximately 1 month of life expectancy.
The study reviewed 74 dog breeds, using data obtained from over 56,000 dogs.
